His Excellency Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed AlKhalifa, CEO of the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), attended the launch of its national awareness campaign, titled “Cyber Aware Bahrain,” at The Avenues. The launch coincided with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which is globally celebrated every October.

The campaign aimed to promote cybersecurity measures to protect the community, reduce the impact of increasing cyber risks, in addition to instilling the values of safeguarding national security by strengthening the principle of shared responsibility within the Bahraini community, and building new partnerships to raise cybersecurity awareness.

The CEO affirmed that the cybersecurity sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain receives attention and support by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa AlKhalifa, and is closely monitored by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad AlKhalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The CEO also highlighted the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad AlKhalifa, National Security Advisor, Secretary General of the Supreme Defense Council and Commander of Bahrain's Royal Guard, in enhancing cybersecurity readiness within institutions and the critical national infrastructure, keeping pace with the digital development takin place in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This is seen as a central pillar for advancing national security and driving economic development, aligning with the goals of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

His Excellency stated the campaign’s aims as previously mentioned. The CEO emphasized the campaign calls for the unity of all institutions, the critical national infrastructure and individuals to build a cyber aware community.

Ms. Aysha Ahmed Haji, Director of Outreach and Awareness Directorate at the NCSC, emphasized the importance of following cybersecurity fundamentals and the safe of technology to reduce increasing risks. The awareness campaign aims to convey these messages in innovative and different ways to all age groups and various specialties. The NCSC is keen to ensuring that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s digital transformation across various sectors is secure, supported by the National Cyber Security Strategy. Many initiatives reflect the Kingdom’s determination to advancing its cybersecurity system, earning international recognition as a Tier 1 country in the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index.

Mr. Ali Mohammed AlZayani, Director of Cyber Defense at the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), praised the collaborative efforts of national entities in securing and developing the digital infrastructure. Mr. Ali emphasized the importance of the national awareness campaign in fostering partnership and cooperation to implement cybersecurity standards across various institutions and critical national infrastructure.

The NCSC operates according to a comprehensive strategy that focused on enhancing national cybersecurity governance. It also emphasizes international collaboration to exchange expertise and experiences in cybersecurity. Additionally, the center works to raise cybersecurity awareness by implementing comprehensive awareness programs. These programs are carried out in partnership with various institutions, critical national infrastructure and educational institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
