Adopting the “Together” curriculum to familiarize school students with the concepts of Cyber security....

His Excellency Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Committee to Combat Violence and Addiction (Together), received His Excellency Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, CEO of the National Center for Cyber Security, in the framework of activating community partnership and raising awareness of young people, and in the presence of Ali Ahmed Amini, Director of the Ma’an program and Aysha Ahmed bin Haji, Director of Outreach & Awareness Directorate at the National Cyber Security Centre.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the Ma’an Committee welcomed the CEO of the National Centre for Cyber Security, praising the role of the Centre in the progress of the Kingdom of Bahrain globally and achieving the maturity of Cyber security readiness according to the report of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the development of communications, information technology and communications infrastructure.

During the meeting, a number of topics of common interest were discussed, including a review of Ma’an’s Cyber security curriculum which was prepared together by a working team consisting of curriculum specialists in the (Ma’an) program and Experts of the Outreach and Awareness Directorate in the National Cyber Security Centre. This Awareness Curriculum, is the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Bahrain and will be adopted within the mechanism of implementing (Ma’an) curriculum in the schools of the Kingdom of Bahrain to suit primary school students.

The curriculum aims to introduce students to the concepts of Cyber security and its online threats and aims to develop a safe decision capability in kids aged 6-9 years when facing these threats that they maybe be exposed to during the use of digital devices, electronic games and technological means of communication. And in aim to continue education at home and provide awareness to the parents the curriculum extends knowledge outside the classroom through the tips and interactive activity for family incorporated in lessons. This Awareness curriculum is scheduled to implementation as of the next semester of 2022.
