The National Cyber Security Center conducted a lecture on Online Safety for students with disabilities

In collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development (MOSD), the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) of the Ministry of Interior presented a lecture to teach students with disabilities about cybersecurity and to promote a Cyber-Aware Culture, emphasizing that it is a shared responsibility. The Center's specialists presented the students with a lecture on 'How to Use the Internet Safely.' During the lecture, a sign language expert was present to interpret and translate sign language to assist deaf and hard-of-hearing students in understanding the concept of cybersecurity.

The session included providing information on cyberspace and cybersecurity, reviewing a set of cyber best practices to promote awareness and safe usage of the Internet browser, social media, and video games, as well as presenting examples of online attacks to make cyber concepts easier for students to comprehend.

The session covered how to avoid having personal electronic devices hacked, which compromises personal information, and ways to leave a positive digital footprint to prevent online risks, promote digital citizenship, and know whom to contact in case of an online threat.

The session highlighted NCSC’s role in mitigating cyber threats, and students took part in answering and asking questions, as well as participating in a few activities during the session.

A meeting was held between the officials of the Shaikhan Al Farsi Center for Total Communication to discuss the production of educational content in the form of educational videos to be published on the official site of the Center to strengthen the Community Partnership Program and spread cyber awareness for the disabled.
