In Cooperation with the National Cyber Security Center, Bahrain Institute for Public Administration Organizes a Panel Session on “Raising Cyber Security Awareness in the Public Sector”

Bahrain Institute for Public Administration (BIPA) organized a panel session titled 'Raising Cyber Security Awareness in the Public Sector' in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Center, with the participation of managers and directors from the Executive Leadership Preparation Program (Qeyadat).

The session was presented by H.E Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, Deputy CEO for Cyber Operations of the National Cyber Security Center, in which he highlighted global developments in the field of cyber security and discussed factors and risk, cyber threats and their consequences.

During the session, His Excellency gave an overview of the national strategy of cybersecurity, policy initiatives, cybersecurity governance, and cyber awareness initiatives for various institutions in the public sector.

Notably, The National Cybersecurity Strategy addresses five pillars that support the Kingdom’s cybersecurity needs which are robust and adaptable cyber defenses, effective governance, and cybersecurity standards, establishing an internet-conscious nation, collective defense through partnership and cooperation, and cyber workforce development.

On the other hand, His Excellency emphasized the center's role in enhancing cyber security in the Kingdom, as well as the importance of spreading awareness among individuals and institutions, the safe use of social media platforms, emphasizing that cyber security is a shared responsibility among all in the Kingdom of Bahrain, where the application of cyber standards reduces security risks, and the center is eager to raise cyber readiness at a national level to meet challenges in cooperation with the regulatory authorities in the sector.

During the session, the Deputy CEO for Cyber Operations, responded to the audience questions and enquiries the majority of which concentrated on security threats and breaches and how to mitigate them.

To conclude the session, Bahrain Institute for Public Administration (BIPA) honored H.E Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, Deputy CEO for Cyber Operations, of the National Cyber Security Center, in appreciation of his efforts and contribution to increase cyber awareness.
